To bridge the gap between scientific journals and the front lines of industry and foster collaborative innovation in the fields of transportation and metallurgical materials, on June 9th, the editorial department of the "Modern Transportation and Metallurgical Materials" journal organized a "series of activities in enterprises" at the construction site of the Zhangjinggao Yangtze River Bridge. This event, featuring a three-in-one format of "inspection + soliciting contributions + training", aims to shift from "passively waiting for contributions" to "actively seeking them out", thereby assisting frontline engineering personnel in transforming practical wisdom into academic achievements.
The editorial team visited the main tower of the bridge, the anchorage area, and the intelligent management and command center, focusing on key technologies such as bridge construction and high-performance materials. They also organized a symposium for soliciting articles on special topics, where they had in-depth discussions with the head of the bridge construction headquarters and technical personnel on unique technical highlights and material breakthroughs in the bridge project. This preliminary clarified the logical thread for subsequent topic selection.
The science paper writing lecture that day was targeted at dozens of engineering technology and science management personnel from the headquarters and participating units. Experts from universities and the deputy editor of this journal systematically taught the topic selection strategy and in-depth expression of engineering technology papers, covering the complete path from refining scientific problems to constructing argumentation logic and presenting data results. The responsible editor of the journal sorted out common normative issues in technical papers, including practical points such as writing format, chart making, reference citation, and academic ethics.
From "waiting for manuscripts to come knocking" to "going into projects to seek manuscripts", the "entering enterprises series activities" of "Modern Transportation and Metallurgical Materials" not only represent the transmission of writing techniques but also reflect the enhancement of the journal's service philosophy. In the future, the journal will continue to delve deeper into more major projects, production, and scientific research sites, providing targeted knowledge services for scientific and technological workers, and building a smoother bridge between academia and industry.
