Modern Transportation and Metallurgical Materials is jointly sponsored by the Jiangsu Comprehensive Transportation Society and the Jiangsu Metal Society, with Southeast University, Central South University, and Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute serving as co-organizers. More than 40 leading enterprises in Jiangsu Province participate as members of the Journal Council, forming a “2+3+N” publishing framework with distinctive Jiangsu characteristics and cross-industry features.
The journal is committed to high-standard publishing and high-quality development. It consistently upholds the principle of integrated and innovative development across the transportation and metallurgical materials industries, as well as the publishing philosophy of “emphasizing academic excellence, producing high-quality works, and building a distinctive brand.” With a focus on collaborative innovation across the upstream and downstream industrial chains of transportation and metallurgy, the journal has established a cross-industry and multidisciplinary platform for scientific and technological exchange and cooperation. It has developed a distinctive publishing model characterized by integration: one journal spanning two fields, close integration of industry, academia, and research, collaborative innovation among societies, universities, and enterprises, and integrated development of media and industry.
The Editorial Board includes 10 academician consultants and special editorial board members, with a total of 191 editorial experts, mainly comprising national-level talents and leading scholars in their respective disciplines. Approximately one-fifth of the members come from enterprises. To deepen collaborative innovation among industry, academia, and research and promote integration and exchange between the two industries, the Editorial Board has established 14 disciplinary editorial groups by combining expertise from universities, enterprises, and related disciplines. These groups play an important role in thematic planning, manuscript screening and review, and the promotion of university-enterprise collaboration.
In accordance with General Secretary Xi Jinping’s directive to “write papers on the land of the motherland,” the journal remains oriented toward major national needs and the main front of economic development, continuously strengthening its academic leadership and promoting the transformation and practical application of scientific and technological achievements. The journal has four regular sections: Strategy and Technology Frontiers, Engineering Construction and Maintenance, Intelligent Transportation and Digitalization, and Material Equipment Technology and Application. It also features three interdisciplinary sections and special topics: Major Engineering Technology, Transportation Vehicles and Materials, and Green and Low-Carbon Technology. The journal focuses on major national transportation infrastructure, such as high-speed railways and long-span bridges, as well as breakthroughs in key related technologies, particularly the research and development of metallurgical materials and the application of related achievements.
Through sustained development, the journal has established an effective platform for integrated innovation, supply-demand coordination, academic exchange, and cross-sector resource collaboration in the fields of modern transportation and metallurgical materials. Its quality and influence have increased significantly, with indicators such as its impact factor and the proportion of papers supported by research funding showing rapid growth. The journal has received high recognition from experts and scholars in relevant fields, as well as broad acknowledgement and recognition from scientific and technological professionals across the transportation and metallurgical materials industries. From 2022 to 2026, a total of six papers published in the journal received the Jiangsu Province Science and Technology Journal 100 Outstanding Paper Award. In 2024, the journal was selected as a China Science and Technology Core Journal and as a Leading Journal of the First Jiangsu Science and Technology Journal Excellence Action Plan. In 2025, it was selected as a Typical Case of Jiangsu Science and Technology Journals Supporting Strategic Brand Building under the “Four Orientations.”
